Daycare centers are an easy target because they're the most institutional form of childcare, but this quality can work in their favor, too: they're regulated, offer a structured setting, and care is well-supervised.  Daycare is best when teacher-to-child ratios are low and groups aren't too large.  Daycare helps improve their socialization skills with other dogs and people, provides plenty of exercise and is a great option for dogs who suffer from separation anxiety.  Daycare horror stories abound involving allegations ranging from caregiver incompetence to outright neglect and abuse.  We suggest you check your state and local regulations before enrolling your child in a center or home daycare.  Some companies are coming to the rescue as they try and reduce employee absences due to care needs, such as offering back-up care, in-home care financial assistance, and help finding daycare centers with extended hours.  Another plus is that daycare centers often offer after-school care or part-time rates.  Some centers provide internet viewing for parents (where parents can log-in to a protected website and observe their child's actitivites at daycare), often for an additional charge.  One thing that is for certain is that daycare centers are definitely not all operated in the same fashion.
